As first NGO working in Turkey on the intersection between LGBTI+ community, climate change & climate justice, the 17 May continues climate studies.
17 May Association’s “climate justice, gender and climate change” panel took place on 15 December 2022 between 14:45 and 18:10.
In the panel, firstly, Özge Gökpınar, 17 May Association’s LGBTI+ Aging and Climate Studies Program Coordinator, provided an insight of the climate studies and previous activities held in that regard.
Then, Prof. Dr. Nesrin Algan from Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration provided a presentation on how Turkey addresses climate change, the experiences and the issue of climate justice.
Lastly, Dr. Ezgi Kovancı from Adıyaman University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration provided a presentation on gender analysis of climate change.
After the Q&A section of the panel, some of the participants was able to visit the exhibition held within the scope of the Climate Studies program of the 17 May Association called “Fawns, children, flowers, flames”, which will welcome its visitor until 23 December 2022 at Karikatür Atölyesi.
